Traditional Czech Potato Pancakes

Difficulty: medium

Preparation time: 45 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of potatoes, grated and juice squeezed out
  • 2 tablespoons of Potato Pancake seasoning mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of plain flour
  • Oil for frying

Method:

  1. In a bowl, mix the grated potatoes, Potato Pancake seasoning mix, eggs, and flour.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and spoon the mixture onto the hot pan, forming patties.
  3. Fry on both sides until golden brown, until the potato pancakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
  4. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  5. Serve as a side dish, or on their own with sour cream or apple sauce.

2. Recipe

Potato Pancake Stuffed Rolls

Difficulty: medium

Preparation time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • Homemade potato pancakes recipe (see above)
  • 200 g of smoked meat, cut into cubes
  • 200 g of grated cheese (Gouda or Edam)
  • 1 onion, chopped and fried until golden brown
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard

Method:

  1. Prepare the potato pancake batter according to the first recipe and fry the pancakes, but keep them softer so they can be easily rolled up.
  2. Spread a bit of mustard on each pancake, sprinkle with fried onion, smoked meat, and finish with grated cheese.
  3. Roll up carefully and secure with a toothpick.
  4. Put the rolled pancakes back on the pan and briefly fry on each side so that the cheese melts and everything comes together.
  5. Remove toothpicks before serving and serve warm.
