Recipe for Spice Mix with Whole Yellow Mustard

This spice mix with whole yellow mustard is perfect for seasoning meat, marinades, dressings, or for pickling vegetables. Mustard seeds provide a mildly spicy and earthy flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons whole yellow mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried garlic (granulated)
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion (flakes or powder)
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground paprika (ideally smoked)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional for spiciness)

Instructions:

Preparing the mustard seeds: To release more flavor from the mustard seeds, lightly toast them in a pan over medium heat until they start popping. Let them cool afterward.

Mixing the ingredients: In a bowl, mix the whole mustard seeds, thyme, parsley, black pepper, garlic, onion, coriander, paprika, salt, and chili flakes (if using). Stir thoroughly to combine all the ingredients evenly.
